WIDEMOUTH BAY

Widemouth Bay has a beach shop, surf schools, restaurants, bars and cafes, and is a 5-minute drive from the centre of Bude.

Widemouth is home to gorgeous beaches, stunning coastal walks, Cornish heritage, fantastic restaurants and fun activities. No trip to Widemouth would be complete without visiting the famous sands of Widemouth Bay which received the 2021 Blue Flag and Seaside Award yet again. Stretching over a mile and a half, this bay is the ideal spot to enjoy Cornwall. Perfect for families, surfers and thrill-seekers alike, sunbathe, go swimming, surf, view rare rock formations, explore rock pools, walk, or watch the sunset over the North coast. Enjoy a cuppa at the gorgeous cafe in the car park. There is lifeguard cover from 10 am – 6 pm during the summer months.

Widemouth Bay offers fantastic conditions to learn to surf or body-board, which is why many of the local surf schools are based there. Surfers will experience a variety of peaks from the north to the south end of the beach, breaking on sand or reef, producing spilling or heavy barrelling waves. You'll also spot the Black Rock landmark.
The Rebel Cinema, located a short 3-mile drive away in Treskinnick Cross, is a purpose-built single-screen independent cinema dating back to 1987 showing the latest releases. The cinema has recently expanded in the last year with a second screen, refurbishment, digital 3D equipment and the latest surround sound systems.
